Two-volume set in contemporary half leather with gilt spine decoration and gilt spine labels. Well-preserved overall. Illustrated with a coloured frontispiece, three engraved plates (two folding), a large folding map, a table, and several woodcut illustrations in the text. The folding map is reinforced at the folds and shows some browning there; plates and maps with occasional offsetting. Volume II with a very faint moisture mark at the lower blank margin toward the end. Engraved armorial bookplates on the pastedowns and an early owner’s name on the title. An expanded edition of an important early scientific travel account.

Mit 1 Tabelle und einigen Textholzstichen. William Jackson Hooker (1785 – 1865) gilt als der erste Botaniker, der die Flora Islands dokumentierte. Jeweils gestochene Wappenexlibris auf Spiegel und Namenszug auf Titel. Die großformatige Faltkarte in den Falzen hinterlegt und dort meist etwas braunfleckig. Band 2 zum Ende mit sehr schwachem Feuchtrand im weißen Fußsteg. Tafeln und Karten meist mit etwas Abklatsch.
